Finnish Fur Breeders' Association

The Finnish Fur Breeders’ Association (STKL) is a representative, advisory, and training organisation for its members. Professional fur farming has been practised in Finland since 1928, the year the association was established. Fur farms practise continuous active development work in order to improve the industry.

Breeding of fur animals in Finland is based on organised and continuous training and research activities related to the behaviour and well-being of the animals and the environmental aspects of fur farms. The scientific research guarantees that the breeding methods used will ensure the best possible care for the animals, and that the regulations and legislation concerning the fur industry have a reliable basis. The young are also interested in fur breeding, and new trained entrepreneurs are continuously entering the sector.

The demand for fur seems to be remaining high. Renowned international fashion designers use fur in their collections. Also, continuous product development makes fur accessible to more and more consumers.
